The Challenge is to write a short tag, missing scene, or alternate scene for the episode aired that week on US's SciFi Channel. The entry can also take the form of artwork, as long as it clearly links into or adds onto the episode, in the same fashion as the fics should. The week's challenge opens for posting each week on Wednesday morning at 8am EST after the episode and closes at 9pm EST on the following Tuesday, when the next episode airs.
The "winners" will be the authors/artists who manage to complete all eight weeks of the challenge. The challenge is open to all pairings/types of fic so feel free to drop by and check it out no matter what genre you like to work in or who you ship this season!

Via their official blog, Eureka Unscripted, the writing staff of Eureka have let everyone know that Season 3 of the series will be premiering on SCI FI Channel in the United States on July 29, 2008. We haven't got a title or any details on the episode yet, but rest assured that we'll be the first to report on anything as soon as it hits our inbox! From VisitEureka.net, I found the Eureka Unscripted Blog - the place for the writers to give us a bit of insight into the daily happenings in the writing office for Eureka.
Today, they happened to do an online chat with writing students at Missouri State University - Springfield and talked about that experience. Now, I have to laugh here, because originally the blog entry for today was, "A Little Bit of 'Eureka' In...Springfield, Illinois."
Not Missouri. So, I refresh the page as I'm getting ready to write this post and they've corrected it now. I can only guess that their
Springfield, MO, is about a 4 hour drive to the southwest of St. Louis and Springfield, IL, is about 2.5 hours to the north.
Anyway, if you have questions you want to ask the PTBs on Eureka, here's the place to do it.
They seem to have a willingness to communicate with us fans. ;)

Breaking News: 21 Episodes Ordered

A source on the production of Eureka has confirmed exclusively to VisitEureka.net that SCI FI Channel have upped their order from 13 to 21 episodes. Details are brief, however. SCI FI Channel are said to be planning on splitting these episodes into "two seasons of 8 and 13".
This could mean that the 21 episodes will be broadcast in the style of Psych and Monk on USA Network - a handful in the Summer, and then the rest in January, with a new season starting in the Summer of the same year. The alternative is that SCI FI has effectively ordered a fourth season, with 13 episodes airing Summer 2008 and 8 airing Summer 2009 (or vice versa).
This is not confirmed, however. We can only confirm that SCI FI have ordered 21 episodes - when they'll air is still unknown. We'll update you as soon as we know more!
