Sorry this wasn't up last night, gang, but my router died. I'm internetless at home! Pity me!

The first post-shocker episode... what did you think?

Well, first of all, to those who are interested, I found a blog entry by one of the writers that sort of goes into why and how they came up with Stark's death. It might make some people who are sort of ishy over it feel better? http://revealthescience.blogspot.com/2008/08/goodbye-nathan.html

Secondly, I liked this episode. Ironically, even though I didn't care for Stark, I like that his death isn't just being hand-waved away. There are...consequences. Alison's grieving and Fargo being all flail-y and Henry quietly sad....even Carter kind of off balance. I love seeing the fallout - it's an aspect that Eureka definitely has that the 'Gateverse has always, always lacked for me.

I continue to love Carter's sister. I love Ever Carradine and I'm so glad they're keeping her around for awhile! She adds a whole new aspect to the show that makes me smile. In a way, for me it fills a little bit of the Carter/Stark snark void, because they have the banter and snark with one another - but without the undercurrent of meanness that always bothered me with Stark.

That all being said, I was sort of blegh about the science-y problem of the week. Ancient Egyptian bugs? Who are magically attracted to Carter's sister's music??? Um....right. Okay. *pats the writers on the head*

Yes, thank you. I thought the science was silly and the romantic ending OTT and not what this show was originally about. However, I'm willing to give the writers a chance to get back on track as it wasn't their fault, and they are trying to work around the difficult fact that Ed Quinn wanted to leave.

I thought the balance was quite off with Stark not being involved in solving the problem. Although Jack, Henry and Allison stepped up a level I found the gaping hole left by Stark to be really obvious:-( Jack's usually clever layman's solution became much more technical. I know we can argue that away by him having been in the town for a while now, and he's clever enough to pick it up but this sudden new knowledge, and dialogue that seemed to belong to a missing person, did throw me out of the story.

As for Lexi, she hasn't done anything yet, I'm assuming because they've been concentrating on the Stark storyline. I'll wait and see how she goes but at the moment I'm completely indifferent to her and confused as to why she is even there. In my mind there is now an imbalance towards too many female main characters and not enough men.

Sorry, as you can tell, I found this episode a little disappointing but will give the show a few more weeks to see how it gets going again after this loss. However, I'm not a long term future viewer at this stage, which is upsetting as this is/was my favorite show:-(
