Summary: Ummm… It’s about Jack Carter and kissing. That would be enough to make me want to read it!

“What I’m about to do, I do for God and country.”

Jack never imagined the first time he kissed her, it would be like this – with Stark, and Zoe, and… at the moment he couldn’t remember who else, watching. He knew there would be a first time. After all, he’d known Allison all of a month and had already nearly kissed her three times.

When she’d lain on his bed after bandaging his ribs – so relaxed, so at home – it would have seemed perfectly right to pull her close and kiss her goodnight. It would have felt comfortable and normal to hold her while they slept. Only the pain of moving stopped him from the near-reflex action.

Or the day they’d prevented World War Three: his adrenaline was still pumping after crashing his truck into the death ray. She gingerly touched his cheek, checking for broken bones, but her fingers lingered just a few seconds too long. He made a joke to suppress the urge to kiss her frantically, to release all the fear and relief and misplaced longing still flooding his body, into her. She laughed and he had to look away.

The closest he came was when they were stuck to the magnetized fence. Her whole body was molded to his, her breath was soft and warm on his throat. But even that didn’t compare with the intimacy of this – dancing with her, holding her because she let him, because she welcomed it.

So he kissed her – tentatively at first, afraid that it would be perfect and he’d never be able to stop. Then it was perfect, but he couldn’t bring himself to care about stopping, despite Stark, despite Zoe, despite… whoever else was watching. He could spend the rest of his life kissing Allison Blake and that would be okay.

Yet, the part of his mind that belonged to the job was still focused. He could feel them coming – the nanoid clones. There were so many of them that the floor of the hall trembled as they approached the doors. Suddenly, they were all around him – ten, fifty, one hundred of them. A hundred Allisons, all headed straight for him. They pulled at him from every side and he lost track of which was the real one. A hundred Allisons, all trying to kiss him, touch him, pulling at his clothes.

“Carter…” A voice, it must be the real Allison. He looked for her in the crowd.

“Sheriff Carter.” The voice changed. It wasn’t Allison, it was… Oh, no.

“Five more minutes, sarah ," he groaned. “I was having a really great dream.”
